QuestionI have been having solar nails applied for about three months now and have been having a recurrent problem with them. My nails were natural before this.
The problem is that under my nail tips, the finger portion, well, sort of corrodes after fills. Its as if my finger is being superglued to the nail, or superglue gets all over the flesh. Sometime they stick to the nails sometimes they don't, but they get tight and the flesh peels off within a week, leaving tender skin.
During the application, I don't notice anything wet under my nail tips, but maybe I just don't notice it.
I tried putting cuticle oil under my nailtips this last time but that didn't help.
What's up and what can I (or my tech) do to prevent it.
AnswerThis is all sloppy application on the part of your technician.
There is absolutely no need for excess glue to be used in this manner, and getting it all over your skin is unacceptable. It can cause a sensitivity to the product, and possibly a permanent allergy.
I also want to stress to you that Solar Nail is not some brand new, safer, different product than traditional acrylic, because it IS liquid and powder acrylic. I have seen it advertised as something safer and better, and charged more for repeatedly in discount nail salons.
Solar Nail is the original cross linking liquid and powder acrylic system created by CND (formerly Creative Nail Designs). It was created in the 1970's, and is still in use on clients with more sensitive skin.
As it is older technology, it most certainly may not be the best choice for your nails. And if your technician was properly trained, they would know that not one liquid and powder system is best for every client.
I suggest to you, based on your skin peeling alone, that you get a new tech ASAP.
