QuestionQUESTION: I have what looks like a small area on the side of my thumbnail that apears to be lifting..if I press on it I can see it spreading which leads me to believe it is lifting..it looks dry and is a yellow colour..it is not fungus...my thumbnail for some reason started to lift in the corner off the nail plate so I was using tea tree oil and noticed it made the gel on the side very soft and it is now lifting off the nail..because this area is so thin can it still be smoothed off where that mark will disappear and new gel added during another fill or do I have to take my nails off...I have had gels for 12 years now and I know my own nails are soft anyway....Di
ANSWER: Hi Dianne,
No worries,When you go in for your fill the tech will file off the loose gel and replace it with new gel you don't need to take your nails off. Tea tree oil is very strong it would make any artificial product lift.

QUESTION: Hi thanks for this...what happened though I discovered is the actual side of my nail is lifting off the nail plate...there is a small white/yellow mark on the side where it is lifting on the side of my thumbnail..she put some bonder on it and more gel on this side of my nail but said it has to grow out and hopefully reattach...I do not know why this lifted on my thumbnail...is there anything else I can do or to cover this while it grows out? Will it grow out and reattach? Dianne
ANSWER: Hi Dianne,
I don't know how large of a space is lifted so I can't be sure if this will help. If you have a corner that is lifted it should grow out just fine if,and thats a big IF, you have to be very careful not to catch it on anything bang it ect. any stress will make it lift more. My suggestion is to take off the gel on that nail cut it short and cut off all lifted area without causing any damage to the nail or nailbed. At this point you would need to leave it free of a bandage at least at night when you are home, a bandage causes moisture and will make it worse (this also holds true for how the nail is now). If you are like me and can't live without that nail ,I would keep it as short as you can/like and be very careful with it until it grows out. Big thing is keep it DRY..
Hope this helps

QUESTION: It is a very small area along the side of my thumbnail where the fold of the skin meets the side of the thumbnail..it is about half way up the side of my thumbnail maybe an 1/8th of an inch up the side of the thumbnail...u have to look at it from the side to really see it well....it looks like a dry piece of nail........I have been puting solar oil on it as this seems to make it less visible but is it ok to leave the bio gel on or do I have to take it off? I would not catch it as it is on the side.....would u still recommend taking the gel off or can I leave it till it grows out? What about moisturizing it with the solar oil? Dianne
AnswerHi Dianne,
If it is that small of a spot it will grow out no problem.
You need to keep it dry,no moisture and after a shower make sure it is dry.
Water, oil or moisturizer are all going to create a breeding ground for funk, as I call it.
The gel is fine to keep on and above all keep it dry!!
