Acrylic Nails with White Tips: First-Time Experience & Maintenance Tips
QuestionI recently had acrylics done for the first time ever. The salon was very clean and the tech did a great job, but didn't have a whole lot to say as far as maintenence goes. I discovered on my own to use cuticle oil. I had them done 2 weeks ago. Some of them seem to be yellowing a bit, but I dyed my hair the same week and think residual hair dye in my hair is to blame as it's not affecting all the nails. Otherwise they are looking great and I love them. I had white tips put on and clear polish for the french manicure look. My nails grow fairly fast. The tips are growing out a lot now, creeping past my natural nail whites. I understand what a fill is, and that I need one, but what about the tips? Do I just let them keep growing out, which won't look good in another week or two, or do I have to have the whole acrylic removed and redone? I wish I had asked more questions when I was there. It's a hassle to get to the salon, so it would be a big help to know my options before I go back in. I wanted to get a different color tip, like a dark pink or something, but not if it's going to cost me a whole lot. Would they just paint that over the acrylic? I feel so clueless! Thanks for your help! :)
AnswerHi Ashley
I think what you will need next time is called a backfill. They should be able to do hot pink, or whatever color you would like, given they have the product. The cost is typically 5-8 dollars more than your fill. If they tell you that you need a new set, then tell them no, you want a backfill. This will be done with acrylic, but not polish. Hope this helps Ashley :)
