QuestionI just got a permanent french gel manicure. The owner said I would need to have it filled every 2-3 weeks, which makes sense, and that it needs to be re-done every 2-3 months. If it's permanent, why does it need to be redone? Also, can a put another color over the gel, and if so, how can I get it off? Can I file the nails-I would like to round them out a bit.
Thanks
AnswerHello Sabine,
Well first lets make sure you really have on gel.
When gel is applied it looks like gel coming out of the jar. There is no powder liquid mixture, you go under a light at least 3-4 times with each hand. If this doesn't sound like what you got done than you have acrylic.
If this is what you had done then it never needs to be redone because it never yellows and it doesn't lift.
You should not file them if they are gel if you break the seal on gel you can make them lift or have a chance of getting water under them. I always tell my clients not to mess with them.
