Permanent French Manicure: Longevity & Maintenance

Question
I had the Permanent French gels put on a week and a half ago.  How long should the white last?  My tech told me that it would have to be filled in every 4-6 weeks.  The pink every two weeks.  The white fill is very expensive.  My white did not even last 2 weeks.  I am very upset that I now only have the pink left after the refill.

Answer
Dear Christine,
I will explain a little about permanent french, and how uv gel is applied.  Without knowing exactly how your own nails were applied, it's hard to ascertain where the problem lies.

First, UV Gel is EXACTLY as the name implies.  It's a 'gel' similar in varying viscosities to hair gel.  It NEVER contains any powder.  It should not be confused with Acrylic, which is liquid and powder.  Many salons claim to offer uv gel, when in fact, they are only applying acrylic with a uv sealant WHICH only helps to prevent cheap acrylic from yellowing.
This page will explain more about these types of salons, their scams, and mma etc: http://ongles-chez-victoria.tripod.com/victoriasnails/id18.html

For a permanent UV Gel french:  a white gel is applied at the free edge.  Cured (hardened under a uv light).  Pink gel is sometimes applied from the cuticle, up to the white. OR clear is applied.
Permanent French's usually require adjusting every 2weeks so that the natural nail smile line doesn't show.  With SOME (NOT all) clients, it can go as long as 4weeks before requiring adjusting.

Application will look something like this: http://www.salongeek.com/nail-application/28667-sculpting-pink-whites-uv-sculpti...
