Acrylic vs. Gel French Manicure: Which Looks Most Natural?

Hi! I really want the permanent french manicure, however I like my nails to look really natural (thin and short; i hate thick nails). I would like to know which material, gel or acrylic, gives the most natural look. At my salon acrylic pink and white with gel on top is 60, and gel is 75. I would much rather spend 60, but if there is that big of a difference in appearance I will pay the extra. Do you think that I can get a natural look with acrylic, or should I just pay the extra for the gel.

If you can find pictures of nails that look like what you want, try taking them in to show the nail tech. Then she can advise you on which way to go.

A skilled technician can give you natural looking nails with either product, but most of us excel at one product more than the other... and not all of us (myself included) are into the natural look. Many of us like to work with whiter whites and pinker pinks for a finished product that ends up looking "better than real." So your best bet is to chat with the person who is going to do your nails and see if you can see her work before you wear it.

A much simpler answer to your question is that I think it sounds like you would like the gel best. It's easy to apply very thin and it looks very much like clear (or slightly pink) polish on the nail.
