Question -
I am in search of a type of stone.  I don't know the name, but I have a description.  I can't find it anywhere, can you tell me its name?
It is a pale, translucent, milky blue and when light hits it, there are very bright blue streaks in the center.
That's all I have, I hope you can help.
Thanks,
Matt

It may be a MOONSTONE....but you don't have too much to go on.  Where did you see it?  Was it mounted or loose?  Was it in a store?
Get back to me with EVERYTHING you can remember.

Hi Barbra,
Thanks for the quick response.  The stone was mounted to a ring.  It was polished and smooth.  I saw it in a gift store in Florida.  It wasn't in a jewlery story or anything.  I bought it for my girlfriend and then she lost it.  The clerk only charged me like 20 dollars for it.  That is all the info I have.  I have never seen another stone like it. Well, thanks again for your help.
Matt

Answer
Hi again.
I'm thinking it may have been an imitation stone.
Did you charge it on a credit card?  You could backtrack that way to get the store name?
If you could find the store, chances are they could get you another ring.
Or, stones that are natural with similar phenomenon are:
moonstone
labradorite
spectrolite
Perhaps you could start a new tradition with a new ring.
Hope this helps.
