QuestionToday I purchased a diamond ring in a pawn shop. What caught my eye was how brillant the stone was. The salesman took it out of the case for me to look at and I then realized that everything about it was unique. The setting isn't a few prongs holding up a stone, it's more like a box encasing the stone with "art" work in the space that is usually left open between each prong. The band is yellow gold(14k)up until you get to the smaller side stones. They are set in what I believe to be white gold. There are two round cut diamonds seperated by a curve of smaller stones that for some reason resemble leafwork of some kind. A better visual would be the letter x, the two round stones on either side of a swoosh between them dotted with smaller stones. The box that encases the largest stone (1/4 carat in my estimation)is in the shape of a square, the diamond is round cut and where the white gold encasing surrounds the stone itself there are indentations all around the stone sort of like flower petals. If you can get any kind of mental picture out of all my ramblings, in your estimation could this be an antique? One more thing the markings on the band are 14k and then AK, with the K extending off the arm of the A.
AnswerHi Rosa,
The only information I could find on a makers mark of AK, was a Russian company.
As you have the ring there and can see the makers mark, have a look at these sites that list marks and see if you can make a match.
