Blue Sapphire Fading: Is Your Ring Real?
QuestionI recently had a blue sapphire ring. There was a stone in the middle and stones down each side. When I first got it the stones were the deepest royal blue. It was beautiful. Not even a month and a half later the stone started turning clear. Was this just a simulated sapphire or what? It was so disappointing. If you have any info please let me know. Thanks so much!
AnswerHI STEPHANIE,
SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR SITUATION. IT PROBABLY WASN'T EVEN A SAPPHIRE OR IF IT WAS IT WAS DYED OR COLORED. I WOULD SUGGEST YOU TAKE IT BACK TO WHERE YOU GOT IT, IT WAS A FAKE OF SOME KIND. THERE ARE MANY SIMULATED STONES OUT THERE AND MORE SO IN TOURIST AREAS. IF IT IS A SAPPHIRE THE STONE COULD BE PERMENANTLY CHANGED WITH A HEAT TREATMENT BUT IT WOULD COST MORE THAN BUYING A REAL GOOD COLORED SAPPHIRE. JUST GET A BLUE PERMANENT MARKER LIKE A 'SHARPIE' AND YOU CAN TURN IT BLUE AGAIN YOURSELF. GOOD LUCK
PETER
