10% Iridium Platinum Ring & Diamond Authenticity - Appraisal & History

Question
We have an inherited ring marked inside with the 10% IRID PLAT stamp, which I understand means Platinum with 10% iridium How likely would it be that the stones in it are real diamonds? Was this grade of platinum used with imitation gems? The ring is most likely from the 1890's to 1930's era. Thanks for your help.

Answer
Hi Sherry,

More than likely the stones are real but the they could have been changed at some point in time.
It's best to get the ring tested.
