Platinum Wedding Band 1931: Identifying Maker & Details

Question
I have been given my great-aunt's wedding band to use as my own.  She married in January 1931 in Colorada, and this band went with a diamond engagement ring (that my cousin has now).
The ring is probably platinum, simple art-deco style, 2-3 mm wide band with 9 tiny diamonds inset.  Inside is:
A (faint) A (with horizontal line over it) T . 10% IR 'D
(the IR could be HR?).
I found from reading that the 10% IR probably means it's platinum with 10% iridium.
1.  Who is maker of the ring?
2.  Is iridium something that is dangerous to wear?
3.  How easily can this be re-sized (1/2 size down at most)?
Thank you so much,
L

Answer
Hello Lisa and thank you for your inquiry. You are correct that the ring is probably platinum with iridium. Iridium was used to increase the hardness of the metal. I have not heard that it is dangerous to wear. I have not been able to find the manufacturer by your description. It could be read as AT or TA. The ring should be able to be resized but that would have to be determined by your jeweler. Sorry I could not help you further. Good luck and enjoy your ring !
