Antique 1800s Solid Gold Coin Case with V&E Markings - Identification & Value

Hi I have aquired a vintage coin case from the 1800's. Inside is marked solid gold shell. It also has what looks like a circle with two lemons inside, inside the lemons are the letters V and E. Please let me know if you would know anything about this case..also where it opens is a purple stone on the latch..Thanks

Hello Carol and thank you for your inquiry. I have not been able to identify the markings on your case. You might check your local library or bookstore for books on collectible purses, compacts and accessories. I have no jewelry companies with the mark, but they could have specialized in accessories where collectors books might be the best source for information. Sorry I couldn't be of any assistance but it sounds like a beautiful case and don't give up trying to get more information. If I come upon anything similar, I'll let you know. Meanwhile enjoy !
