Opal Pendant Appraisal: Is it Worth $400?
Question
pendant
hello. I have the oppurtunity to buy this art deco style opal pendant. It measures 20x 24 mm and is on 14k. the back stamp is 14k with a 5UP or ??(i think thats it) what do you think it means? I am not sure it is worth the 400? What do you think?
AnswerHello Branda and thank you for your inquiry. You have a beautiful pendant. The 14K is 14K gold and the 5UP could be a design number. I have no manufacturer logo with that lettering. In order to assess a value, you would have to have it appraised by an estate jewelry appraiser or gemologist. Several factors are considered including the condition and type of opal as well as quality of the gold design and weight. There are several appraisal sits online that will work from a good photograph. One of them is "What's It Worth To You". Just input that name in your browser search to go to their site. They do charge a small fee for appraisals. You might also search online for pendants similar to yours. Try ebay.com auction or amazon.com.
Hope this helps and good luck !
