Antique Estate Ring Identification & Appraisal - MS&S, Crown, 375, London Markings
QuestionI purchased a ring from an antique store in Scotland about a year ago for 15 pund. I had it appraised at AUD$500 which was a bonus. What i am more interested in is the markings and the age of it. It is marked MS&S which is the makers mark but i cannot find any information on it?? It also has a crown, 375, what looks to be the london hallmark of a leopard and a possible B?? It is a stunning ring in which i intend to keep for my daughter but would love to give her some background information on it.
thanks for your time
Answer The Crown 375 is a London hallmark and it stands for 9K gold. The MS& S most likely is a London based manufacture. Check with the board of registry for jewelers in the UK.
Thanks for writting !!!
