I currently have an 18ct yellow gold engagement ring which has a diamond sitting in it and the ring splits and sort of curves above and below the diamond. I have inherited an 18ct yellow gold wedding ring which is of similar thickness however is just a straight band. Is it possible to make this ring fit around my engagement ring and also could you hazard a ball park figure of how much you think it would cost to do?

It is really impossible to know this without seeing the rings in person.  Even a photo wouldn't necessarily let me determine that, and partly it will depend on the skills and expertise of the jeweler that is doing the work, which will also dictate the price.  Sorry, but this is one you would need to take to a local, experienced jeweler, and show it to them to get an estimate.
