Understanding Ring Engravings: 18CT vs. 18KT & PT 6245

Question
QUESTION: Good evening was wondering if you could explain to me what is meant by the engravement on the inside of a ring left to myself my nanna. The mark is as follows: 18ct & PT 6245.

Kind regards

Danielle

ANSWER: Danielle,
18CT as opposed to 18KT are two separate items....CT is for Carat Weight for gemstones etc.... and KT is for Karat Gold percentage of purity.....which one is it? perhaps the UK has different standards?//
most likely its 18 Karat Gold which is 75% pure gold with the balance being alloys. PT would seem to be Platinum and may have a gemstone or diamond in the ring with a Platinum head or prongs is that correct? send me a picture and I can comment further.
all the best
