1920s Art Deco Diamond Ring - Identifying Jeweler & 'Gothic' Inscription

Question
Inscription on ring says GOTHIC 14K and the name of the jeweler is partially worn off.  I can only read ***ley & Sons, Inc. Would love to know more about this ring.  I purchased it at an antique store and would like to know who the jewelers were, and why does it say Gothic. It is white gold with a total of 9 diamonds in an oblong setting.  Very pretty. Sorry no photo right now, as it is getting sized.

Answer
Hello Danielle and thank you for your inquiry. The GOTHIC is probably the design line and the ***ley & Sons Inc. is not enough to go on to find a match on the manufacturer. Perhaps the jeweler could use more magnification on the name to make it out or he/she could recognize the style or the name GOTHIC. The only GOTHIC design I can find in my records is for a watch-maker in NYC. Another avenue might be to have it appraised by an estate jewelry appraiser. They are very knowledgeable of older manufacturers since they deal in fine estate jewelry. Your local museum or library might be able to refer you to someone locally. Sorry I couldn't help you further but enjoy your ring ! Sounds lovely.
