Diamond Ring Markings & Value: Understanding Gold Purity and Design

Question
i have a diamond ring and wondered what the markings are and how much it would be worth?  the markings are   LA 375 e, but inbetween the 375 and the e there is like arrow or something, hope you can help

Answer
Hello Lee and thank you for your inquiry. The 375 would indicate 9ct gold and the ring is probably British. The arrow could be a design mark. British jewelry will usually have other markings. Since your ring is gold and has a diamond you might want to have it professionally appraised. The value would have to be determined by the gram weight of the ring and the condition, quality of the diamond. Check with your local museum or antique shop for a reference for an antique jewelry appraiser.  Hope this helps !
