QuestionI have just inherited a white gold pave set, what I think is diamond, ring and was wondering if you could possibly help me with a marking that is on it. I have managed to identify that it is 9ct white gold from the hallmark (sheffield assay mark).
It also has stamped .45 (which I am presuming is the diamond ct weight) and it has GTD stamped on it also. I tried to find out what this GTD stood for and the only thing I seemed to come up with was 'Geometrical Theory of Diffraction'!! Is this relevant or could you shed some light on what it means? I would be very grateful.
Thank you.
AnswerHi Karen GTD is either the manufacturing company or the jewelry makers initials. It could be anyone.
Too bad there isn't a standard for these hallmarks that could be more universal other than Initials.
Thanks for writting !!!
Good Luck
