Polishing Scratched Garnet Rings: DIY vs. Professional Restoration

I inherited a small garnet and gold ring.  The Garnet is really scratched.  Can I polish the stone to remove scratches or do I have to take to jeweler?

Hi..I thought garnet is pretty strong gemstone..

you need to find a stone cutter ...try calling GIA in carlsbad ca...
for one in your area...the scratshes have to be polished out with
proffesional eqipment..
