how would I rate a ruby stone and know a decent price?

hello mary...
the range in value of rubies is huge...
If the color is bright and you suspect it is valuable,
bring it to two different gemologist for appraisle..
also you can have it evaluated at GIA in Carlsbad ca.
If you can find exact compareables..you can go to eBay
and see what has sold..for
a general idea..also..if it is valuble, keep the stone in your eye sight when they are being appraised
by gemeologist so they are not swapped..
