Vintage Telephone Brooch Value & History - Southern Bell Memorabilia

Question
hello I have an old vintage brooch that is an old style telephone the kind where you have to put one part to your ear and hold the rest in front of you it is some sort of clear stone and silver and it was given to my great great aunt after she worked at southern bell which used to be the only phone company in the south for 25 years i think i was just wondering what it might be worth if anything at all. I will be grateful for whatever info you can provide for me ,
thank you
aimee

Answer
Hello Aimee and I apologize for my late response. I've had computer problems for the past few days. Your brooch sounds very pretty and could have been a presentation piece for service. The only way to determine the value would be if there is any marking on the back as to metal content i.e. sterling silver, 925 or karat gold. If that is positive for precious metal you might want to have the stones checked also. An estate jewelry appraiser or professional jeweler could do that for you. If it is not marked, it is likely costume and any collectible value would be to a collector of similar commemorative items or jewelry. You might check one of the online auctions such as ebay.com for "telephone jewelry". There may be some items similar to yours.  Sorry I couldn't be of any further help but enjoy your brooch !
