Question
Art Deco Bracelet
I am sending a photo of the 14k stamp on this piece. Next to it is a sideways W. Does this just mean white? I have looked all over and not found this marking elsewhere. The piece dates somewhere in the late 20's to early 30's. Thank you for your help on both of my questions.
AnswerWell, your second question came as I was sending a response to the first! The symbol of a sideways "w" is most likely a makers mark. The maker generally would place an identifying symbol or abbreviation next to the metal quality mark. As I see it, the 14k is the quality mark and the other mark is representative of the maker. White jewelry is not stamped to show a color and the would not mean white.

This is a lovely bracelet.
God Bless and Peace. Thomas.
