Question marks
QUESTION: I have a silver coloured metal wall hanging plate the front is a copper colour it has two marks on the back but i have been unable to find anything about the marks could you tell me any thing about the plate and the marks on the back.
ANSWER: Hello Jennifer and thank you for your inquiry. Since this is a metal hallmark (I really can't make out the detail) I am sending you a website with hallmarks that might enable you to compare yours to one there. You might judge from the type of design on the front what area of design i.e. oriental, mid east, southwest, etc. to narrow down the search. If it is American, copper was a popular Arts and Crafts metal and also used in Southwestern items as well as others. Sometimes wall hangings were brass coated with copper. Some of these were made in India and China. Just copy and paste the below url into your browser address field and hit enter:

Also, if you can determine the metal, you might check out one of the online auctions such as ebay.com for similar wall hangings. Hope this helps and good luck !

QUESTION: I have a bracelet i was told it was from late 50s to early 60s but i was also told it was gold coloured not plated and i have since found out it is gold plated it is a row of gold ball shapes to make petals of flowers and a pearl in the centre of each flower it has some kind of mark on the back but cant figure out what the mark is and if you look at the mark one way there seems to be a number 2 in it but if you turn it upside down it looks like elephants well i think so any way .
AnswerHello Jennifer - I have difficulty reading the mark in the picture. Since your bracelet is costume jewelry, you might want to check out your local library for books on costume jewelry marks. There are several good ones on the market - American Jewelry Manufacturers by Schiffer is one that your library might have. Another idea is to search one of the online auctions for a similar piece. Ebay.com is an excellent place for jewelry research. Just use their "search" for bracelets and add some of your items attributes.
There are also online appraisal sites that will work from a good photo and research and value your item for you. "What's It Worth To You" is an example and they do charge a small fee.
Hope this helps and enjoy your bracelet
