Understanding the Meaning of a Number Stamp on Your Vintage Ring

Hi, I recently received an heirloom engagement ring. It has "18149" stamped on the inside. I believe it is white gold, but I'm not sure- it may be platinum. The ring is from the 1930s I believe. Do you know what the 18149 means?
