Understanding 'US' Stamps on Engagement Rings: Metal & Origin

Question
Hi there,

I am the very blessed recipient of a new engagement ring! On the inside it appears to be stamped "US" and perhaps a copyright logo next to it. It was purchased at Diamond District in Bonita Springs, FL. Can you tell me what the US means and if it tells what the metal of the band is? Thanks so much!

Linda

Answer
Hi Linda,

Congrats!  The fastest way to your answer is to call the seller.  Since you are not dealing with an antique, and know where it came from, I would call the seller and ask.

The US is likely a makers mark.  Metal purity marks on modern jewelry keep to some common standards.
