I found a gold ring with a heart diamond on the beach. It has a circle with a dot in the middle for a hallmark, and I haven't been able find any info On it. Do you know where it could have come from?

Both types of jewelry have their own markings. I haven't had any luck in finding the mark you describe and suggest that you take your ring to a jeweler or appraiser (check your local museum or antique shop for a referral) to have it checked. Once that is determined it may be easier to locate the mark.
