Heavy & Frequent Bleeding While on Birth Control: Causes & When to See a Doctor
QuestionHi, I have been feeling quite Ill lately, such as quesyness after I eat, and never thought anything of it until my period came 10 days apart. I am on the pill and have been for 2 and a half years, but have never experienced breakthrough bleeding this heavy and it has continued for 3 days. I felt very sick when it first started and it has been accompanied by a terrible headache. Do you think its worth seeking medical advice, and any suggestions of the cause?
AnswerIt is unusal for breakthrough bleeding to occur after more than two years on the same pill. If you are having sudden heavy bleeding with headaches, I would definitely have it checked out by your doctor. Have your blood pressure checked and possibly a sonogram of your pelvix.
