Post-Abortion Fertility: Can You Conceive After Two Procedures?

Question
the first time i had become pregnant i was 19 and not ready for a child at the time and chose to have an abortion. when i found out that i was pregnant again about 6 months later so i had decided to have another abortion due to painful complications with my body.  since then my mentral cycle has been a little off and and now that i have been ready for a child i have not been able to have one. is it still possible for me to conceive a child since a had a total of 2 abortions?

Answer
Hello, jessica,

Two abortions definitely can make it impossible for a woman to have a baby. One can do that. Whether this is true in your case remains to be seen. How long have you been trying? Most women become pregnant within a year when they try. After a year, it's time to start being concerned. Ultimately, the only way to determine whether you can have a child is either wait and see, or go to a doctor and let him do some examinations and tests. If it has been a year, that's what I recommend.

It might help if you learn to tell when you are fertile. Go here:

You cannot be using any hormones for this to work. You can time intercourse for when you are fertile.

You didn't say what kind of abortions you had. If you had medical abortions, those are powerful hormones, and no telling what they did to your body. But it is known that after one surgical abortion, 10% of women will never conceive again. I don't have a figure for after two, but after three, 50% will never conceive again.

I pray that you will be successful in getting pregnant. But if you cannot, you might consider adoption. It is a good alternative. Let me know how you do.
