QuestionMY WIFE AND I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT WE WILL MISCARRY SOON. WE HAVE HAD TWO SONOGRAMS. ONE AT AT LEAST 6 WEEKS AND ONE A WEEK LATER. THE SECOND SHOWED NO CHANGE AND NIETHER COULD FIND A HEARTBEAT OR BLOODFLOW. THE DOCTOR EXAMINED MY WIFE AND SAID THAT THE CERVIX WAS STARTING TO OPEN. MY QUESTION AND CONCERN IS AS FOLLOWS; COULD IT BE TOO SOON TO FIND A HEARTBEAT ? WE TESTED POSITIVE WITH A HOME TEST ON APRIL 7. OUR DOCTOR HAS RECOMENDED A D&C. WE JUST WANT TO BE SURE THAT AT THIS STAGE THERE IS NO CHANCE FOR GROWTH OR TO FIND A HEARTBEAT. IS A D&C BETER THAN LETTING IT HAPPEN NATURALLY?
Answer Hello, I am so sorry to hear of the problems you are having.
Is your wife in any pain? Has this happened before? If not I would say let it happen on its own.
I would worry as you are that maybe it is too early, etc.
Doctors are good but they don't know everything.
My mom was told with me I would not be "right". This was many years ago when the Rh factor was not totally understood. Because she had it they told her to abort me. She obviously didn't and for the most part (LOL) I am fine.
So if your wife appears to be fine and can handle letting things happen naturally that is what I suggest.
Good luck.
