Understanding Early Pregnancy Loss: Symptoms and What to Expect
QuestionI would like to know if I am having a Miscarriage. I am only about 6 wks and some days. Have had bleeding for over a week with mild passings of clots. Have been seen by doctor for ultrasound and probe was told it was unspecified I am confused one minute they say abortion threatened, abortion unspecific, miscarriage the you may be pregnant come back in for more test can you help me?
AnswerDear Elise
usually most pregnancies are visible at 6 weeks by ultrasound and a clear cut decision can also be made about their status whether alive or not. In minor ocassions, the visibility is hardened due to abnormal position of the baby, low resolution of the ultrasound machine or the sonographer's experience. A repeat ultrasound should be conclusive if repeated after 1 week. This is definitely provided that you are sure of your last menstrual period and you are currently supposed to be a 6 weeks pregnant.
Good Luck
