QuestionHi. i had a miscarriage before i reached 10 weeks. and I'm about 4 months now. My body did not get rid of all of the fetus. and i have not had a menstrual cycle since then. I was wondering what can be some of the effects that it can have on my body? and is there a pill or anything i can do to get the rest of it removed?
AnswerHi Samantha
Have you had an incomplete miscarriage confirmed by a doctor? To be sure that this has happened, the doctor needs to carry out an ultrasound scan to check for remaining tissue.
If you have then you need to go back to your doctor to be booked in for a D&C. This is a small procedure carried out under a general anaesthetic to remove the tissue. Any remaining tissue can cause infection & could lead to scarring which can cause fertility problems in the future.
You need to get this done asap.
If you have not had this confirmed but think you have had a miscarriage because you've bled, you have either had a complete miscarriage & your cycles have not yet returned to normal or it is possible that you are still pregnant. Either way, again a trip to the doctors is needed to investigate further.
Do not delay. You need to find out what's going on so you can get the appropriate treatment.
I hope this has helped, please do come back if you have any other questions.
Kindest Regards
Sarah
