Understanding Early Pregnancy Loss: Symptoms & What to Expect

Question
My LMP was 3/28/06, I got a confirmed pregnancy test on 51/06, on 5/5/06 I started having bright red spotting that later in the day bacame a bit heavier ( not as heavy as a period, but more than just spotting)I called my Dr. and he order HCG blood test, my level was 4010. He said that I was probably having a miscarriage. The bleeding continued to the next day then stopped. I had no cramping. Was that a miscarriage? I am very confused because I expected more bleeding and cramping. Any info. would be helpful. Thank you

Answer
Anytime you have bright red bleeding in a pregnancy, it is worrisome.  If you didn't pass any tissue and you didn't have cramping, but your HCG levels are too low, you need a transvaginal ultrasound to confirm what is really going on.  If you truly miscarried, you may need a D & C to remove the tissue.  Did you have any loss of pregnany symptoms?
