Pregnancy After Miscarriage: What to Expect & Next Steps
QuestionI read that you said that the only reason to wait one cycle after miscarriage is to "date" the due date?!? Is that right? I'm so greatful that I read this! I was searching for some comfort! I had a miscarriage at the end of Febuary and just found out today that I'm pregnant! After my miscarriage I did go to the doctors a week later to make sure that I didn't have any pregnancy hormones. The reason I had a mc is due to low progestrone. Can you give me some advice on what I should do. As far as taking care of myself and so on! I'm so excited and also really scared I really want to have a baby! Thanks!
AnswerAfter moscarriage, the pregnancy hormones (Beta HCG) can remain elevated for around 10 weeks (same as after a normal full term delivery).Congratulation on your new pregnancy. The only reason to wait longer than one cycle is if you have any emotional problems from the miscarriage. There is nothing you should do. I would recommend starting progesterone supplementation until you reach 12 weeks gestation, if your progesterone level was low. Repeat the progesterone level. If it is less than 8, start the progesterone. Good Luck.
