Understanding Pregnancy Risk After Unprotected Intercourse
QuestionI am 24 years old and I have one five year old. I started my period around February 1st, I had intercourse the night of the 4th. I am not on birth control and had no pretection. Is it posible to get or be pregnant? What should I do?
AnswerIf you have normal 28 day cycles (from the first day of your period until the first day of your next period) ovulation occurs on cycle day #14. You can ONLY become pregnant if you have unprotected sex on cycle day #13, 14, 15, or 16. You cannot become pregnant on the fourth day of your cycle because you would not have ovulated at that time and there would not be an egg in the area for the sperm to fertilize. See if you get your normal period around February 28. If you do not get your next period on time, wait an additional seven days and then take a pregnancy test. However, I doubt that you have become pregnant.
