Postpartum Period Changes & Pregnancy While Breastfeeding: What to Expect

My baby is eight months old.  I have not had my period since she was 4 1/2 weeks old.  I am breasfeeding.  I was wondering if there is a reason why I have not had my period and if I can still get pregnant if I don't have a period?

Hi Jennifer,

It is completely normal to not have a period while you are breastfeeding.  However, although it can decrease your chances of pregnancy, you can still ovulate, and therfore, get pregnant.  So, it is best to use another form of birth control at this point if you are not ready for another baby.  Good luck!
