QuestionI'm 32, I have no children and the first day of my last period was Jan. 11. I've been trying to conceive since Oct. '05 after stopping the birth control pill. Since being off the pill, my cycles have been 30 days long. I'm currently on cd37 and my period is no where in sight! I've taken 4 home pg. tests and they were all negative. I really don't think I'm pg, even though I'd love to be! I have a feeling that maybe this was an anovulatory cycle. If I didn't ovulate, will I eventually get my period on my own, or will I need to call my dr?
AnswerIf you have a normal 30 day cycle (from the first day of your period until the first day of your next period) ovulation occurs on cycle day #16. YOu can only become pregnant if you have unprotected sex on cycle day #15,16,17, or 18. If you did become pregnant on one of those days, the best time to take a pregnancy test would be7 days after missing your next period. You were due for yoour next period on February 9. Therefore, a pregnancy test would be accurate after February 16. If the test is negative after February 16, you probably merely have some hormonal imbalance and your doctor can induce your period for you.Often, if you do not ovulate, you will not get your period. Sometimes, however, you can ovulate and still miss your period. Discuss it with your doctor.
