Understanding Bleeding and Period Changes on the Pill: What to Expect

Question
I just finished my first month on the pill (took them at the same time, didnt miss any etc). The first day I took the sugar pill in the morning, about 2-3 hours later I started to bleed a little. I had a little cramping the first hour but every since then, no symptoms - no sore breasts, fatigue, appetite changes etc. The bleeding was for three days then ended. Now I'm on the 5th day of the pill and my bleeding has stopped. Am I to consider that my period? The spotting I had during the active pills was very little to none and light brown in color. This was red. I was just surprised that it came the same day I started taking the sugar pill. Is this normal?

Answer
Everything sounds fine. Remember, that once you finish the "active" pills (cycle day @1-21) you will get the breakthrough bleeding sometime during the week you are taking the "placebo" pills. You can start bleeding on any day of that week. You can bleed one day, three days, 7 days. Don't worry.  Just keep taking the pills,  and start a new pcck on Sunday.
