Provera and Pregnancy: Understanding Its Effects

Hi, Dr. Rappaport...

I was wondering if taking Provera while pregnant would still induce a period? (I have NOT done this and do NOT plan to, just a curious question) : )

During pregnancy, Provera (progesterone) may prevent and lower the risk of miscarriage. Provera is recommended if the progesterone level is low. It will not cause a period to occur. If a woman is not pregnant, Provera can start the period or stop abnormal bleeding. Provera has many uses throughout a woman's life.
