Recovering Abdominal Muscles After a C-Section: What You Need to Know

Question
Lately, I have started an aerobic/body shaping program plus I have cut out all sugar but I was told that after having a cesearean section, such as myself, that the lower-abdominal muscles are no longer funcional?  Is this true or is there therapy or special exercises to help build it up if it is the case?  Thanks in advance for your reply.

Answer
During a cesarean section, the abdominal muscles (the rectus abdominus) is separated. It is not cut. After the opoeration, the muscles return to their original location and function as they did before the operation. Sometimes, a separation may cause you to have a longer recuperation, but it should go back to normal.
