Double Positive Pregnancy Test: What Does It Mean?

Question
There was one thing that I guess being a bit on the obssessive side I wanted to hear you opinion on Cheri. What do you think about the two home pregnancy tests I took and them BOTH turning bright pink? I know. I know. I will find out for sure tomorrow evening but this doctor made me feel very irrational about the whole thing and gez, just wait two weeks...argh! I want to know NOW.If someone offered me a glass of wine,I would NOT say yes, I get mirgraines and take anti-migraine medication and obviously I would NOT take them you know? Like I said I went to a walk-in medicenter as I just couldn't wait to see my regular doctor. I live near St Albert,AB. Thank you for responding so quickly by the way! You are great!

I am 34 years old and I have 3 boys ages 15,13 and 8. I took two home pregnancy tests one Thurs night around 5pm and it was bright pink very quickly. Took another test at 5:30am in the morning and same thing. Since I have had children the symptoms are very very familiar BUT the doctor at the medicenter did a urine test and said it was negative, told me to come back in two weeks. OR get a blood test which I had to pay for.I will find out for sure on Monday although I have no doubts. Spoke to two pharmacists and told them about the home tests, the doctor test and they told me they believed almost without a doubt I must be pregnant and were shocked he made me pay for the test. (in Canada where I am from he said unless it is "medically necessary" the blood test must be paid for by the patient) Anyway, my question is this I had all my boys through c sections. First child was emergency section (water broke/labor for 36 hours, induced labor and he was breech)2nd son was overdue, my 3rd son was a planned section as I was told that I had to do it that way. I never questioned it. MY question now is this: I must have a c section now don't I after having 3 already?

thank you in advance. And maybe you could give me your 2 cents on me having a healthy baby girl this time? lol

Hello Angela (and fellow Canadian!)- if you are all ready pregnant, the sex of this baby is all ready decided- there is nothing you can do about it. Of COURSE you can have a vaginal birth- BUT you will have to educate yourself VERY well during the pregnancy. I would urge you to consider midwifery care rather than medical care- your chances of a vaginal birth would be much greater. The very BEST thing you can do is to get your hands on these two books- Open  Season and The Silent Knife- both by Nancy Wainer Cohen- go to her website(her name). She is THE expert on VBACs- vaginal birth after c/section. If you will get back to me with where in Canada you are, I might be able to help you find a midwifery source. Hope that helps- Cheri.

Answer
Hello again Angela- ST ALBERT!!!- I was born and raised in Edmonton and lived in Red Deer for 29 years- we now live in Kamloops, BC. Anyway, there is WONDERFUL midwife in your area named Noreen Walker- I'm sure she is still practicing and may do some births out of the Sturgeon hospital. Why don't you contact her and ask her to do a pelvic exam on you- she may be able to tell you what is going on. AND - she would be the very best chance you have to have a vaginal birth. All the best- Cheri.
