Cesarean Section Rates in the US: Texas & Oklahoma Data
QuestionI just wondered what the current Cesearean rate was in the US Today. Or more specifically, in Texas and Oklahoma the states where I could delivery by baby due in November. I've searched online but the most recent information I could find is from 1998! Can you help?

AnswerI don't know the current rate. It had been 18% but the number of cesareans being performed is rising due to more warriness of VBACs, the present climate of liability, and the reluctance of attempting vaginal deliveries on "non-reassuring fetal tracings". However, the national average, or even the rate in Texas and California, is not what you want. YOu have to ask your individual obstetricians what their rate is and what prompts them to perform a cearean section.
