Question-------------------------
sorry ill explain better. My lmp was on the 19/20th August 2005. Im now 32 weeks pregnant. I had a ultrasound at 11weeks & 20weeks which both said the same, conception date= 9th september & EDD 2nd June 2006!
How accurate are dating scans? i presume this is quite accurate as they both had the same result.
I had intercouse on the 19th August though (the day before my period started) im worried i concieved then or that the sperm lived though my period and got me pregnant a couple of days later. How many days after intercourse can you become pregnant? i believe sperm is healthly for 3 days and the egg for 2 days. Does this mean you can become pregnant 3 days later or 5 days later?
I also had 3days of bleeding on the 2nd september 05 (2weeks after my normal period) does this mean i had to ovulate again for me to bleed again for 3days or can you bleed inbetween periods for no reason?
I ALSO HAD A SCAN WHEN I WOULD OF BEEN 5.5WEEKS, NO MEASURMENTS WERE TAKEN AS ONLY A YOLK SCAN & G. SAC WERE SEEN, I BELIEVE IF I DID CONCIEVE EVAN A WEEK BEFORE MY ESTIMATED CONCEPTION DATE (9TH SEP) THEN A FETAL POLE WOULD OF BEEN DETECTED AS I WOULD OF BEEN NEARLY 7WEEKS (BY VAGINAL SCAN)do you agree?

Question -
these dates are from last year, im 32 weeks pregnant with my first and would like to know when i concieved.
i had a period on july 19th (32 day cycle) and my next period on 20th august, according to my scans at 11 & 20 weeks i got pregnant about 3 weeks after my period on the 9th september (day 20) (due date 2nd june 2006)i believe i would of ovulated day 18 so this is only two days later. Im concern i might of got pregnant between the 17-19th of august (1-3 days before my period started) can you concieve this late in your cycle and still come on your period at the expected time? could i have ovulated whist on my period becuase i also got 3days of bleeding on the 2nd september (2 weeks after my period stated) then i apparently concieved around the 9th sep and i missed my next period!
does this add up and do you think i got pregnant after my period on the 20th august and not before my period from sex on the 17-19th august?
many many thanks

I'm sorry, but your question is phrased a bit awkardly and is difficult to follow. If your last period started on September 9, you would have ovulated around September 22 and could have conceived if you had sex on september 21,22,23, or 24. Your due date shold be June 16. If you get your period, you are not pregnant.
AnswerIf your last period started on August 19, the earliest that you could have ovulated (and conceived) was September 1 and you could have conceived if you had sex on August 21,September 1,2, or 3. If you did become pregnant at tht time, your due date is, indeed, June 2 and you are32-33 weeks pregnant.A sonogram at 12 weeks and 20 weeks are very accurate. We use the one at 20 weeks to confirm your due date because at 20 weeks, the baby is up to the level of the belly button and we can correlate the sonogram, dates, and size. You could not have conceived around the 19th of August (or even a few days before or after). The earliest that you could have ovulated wold have been on September 1 and, since sperm can remain viable for 12-24 hours (they can be seen alive in the reproductive tract for around 5 days, but they do not have the capacity to fertilize an ovum after 24 hours), and an egg can remain viable for 24-48 hours, there is a 4 day window of opportunity. In any case, August 19 was far away from September 1. The bleeding that you had two weeks after the start of your period, was "ovulatory bleeding" which is quite common, especially since we know that you had to ovulate at that time.A sonogram taken between 5-6 weeks from the first day of your period, will often show an empty gestational sac, but no fetus or fetal heartbeat. We do not see a fetal heartbeat until after 6 weeks gestational age. A sonogram taken at 5 weeks is very, very inaccurate and cannot be used to determine gestational age. It is used only to confirm that there is a pregnancy. If your last period started on August 19, you would have been five-six weeks pregnant on September 20-25 (We count a pregnancy as starting on the first day of your last period, not from the date of conception).
