Understanding Your Cycle After a Miscarriage: What to Expect

Question
hi, first of all thanks for taking the time to read this, im in need of some advice! i had a miscarriage (2nd one) on the 7th february at 6 wks pregnant. i was told to go home & let nature take it's course as there wasn't much they could do as i was so early on & my hcg level was only 7. i bled moderately for approx 6 days & wondered when my first period would come. ive been waiting to come on so i can start taking my pill again but it's been almost 6 wks since the mis & no sign of menstruation. my husband & i have had unprotected sex a few times over the last 2 wks so i wondered if it was possible im pregnant again? i did an early test & i see a faint line. is this possible? regards, donna

Answer
Hi Donna,

Yes, it is possible that you are pregnant again.  Even though when you start your period is the first day of your cycle, your case is different and is actually similiar to what happens after you give birth.

When you are reestablishing your cycle, after birth or after a miscarriage, you will ovulate (may have already!) before you have a period.  This is normal and I always warn my mom's to be careful.

So, yes, you may very well be pregnant.  If you are, I hope it's a happy thing for you :)
