Post-Miscarriage Pregnancy: Understanding Symptoms & Possibilities
QuestionHello. I have not confirmed anything but has a question. I recently had miscarriage at 7wks (confirmed on 4/18). The bleeding did not start until 4/23. Dr. performed the ultrasound and saw that everything was through. Also my blood level has gone down to non-pregnancy level. We had intercourse on(5/2). I'm on day 18 not and my breast has been really sore and I have mild painon my back as well as lower abdominal. I have heard some people get pregnanct again before they see the 1st period cycle after the miscarriage... Is this a case? Would there be a chance that I am? I am not sure how to calculate the days before testing.
Thank you for your help as always...
AnswerIf you had bleeding on April 23 and a sonogram showed that there were no abnormalities in the uterus , you would not have ovulated for, at least, two weeks after the miscarriage (until May 7) and could not have conceived as early as May 2. Usually, you do not ovulate until two weeks after the next normal period, but some people can, indeed, ovulate before they get their normal period. However, your hormone would not have allowed you to ovulate until at least 14 days after the miscarriage and it is extremely rare to ovulate earlier than that. If you do not get your period by June, repeat the pregnancy test. The best way to check is by taking two blood tests for pregnancy (Beta HCG) 48 hours apart. If there is a doubling of the results in 48 hours, it indicates a pregnancy. If it is less than 5, you are not pregnant. Since your last HCG value was at a non-pregnancy level, you definitely had not conceived by the date of that blood test.
