Late Ovulation & Trying to Conceive: Understanding Delayed Cycles
QuestionHi Dr. Rappaport,
My husband and I have been TTC for over 7 months now and have not had any luck. I have done BBT charts, ovulation kits, cervical mucous charting and nothing.
I have always had a regular 28-30 day cycle until I had a laparoscopy done last October. Ever since then my cycle ranges anywhere between 30-35 days. My doctor most recently did blood tests on Day 3 and 22 of my cycle to check my hormone levels. Everything was normal with the exception of my progesterone which was at a 4 on day 22. She prescribed Promtetrium to start taking 48 hours after ovulation. I have been doing ovulation predictor kits since day 14 and still no LH surge. Could the laparoscopy have affected my cycle? Should I keep doing the ovulation kits?
What could be going on with me?
AnswerIf your pregesterone value is low, I woul suggest to take progesteron supplementation (Prometrium Progesterone suppositoreis, etc0 every day. Continue the progesterone supplentation until you become pregnant and then continue it until the the twelfth week of pregnancy. I doubt that the laparoscopy altered your cycle. A cycle is considdred normal from 21 days to 35 days.
