Answer
Dear Marty,

Well it sounds like you've been doing the right things thus far! It's encouraging that you are cycling/ovulating regularly. In consideration of both sperm and egg life cycles, you are having sex at right times.

Another suggestion I'd make is some research I've seen on lowering sugar, caffeine, and white foods in your diet - actually in both the man's and woman's diet. Studies indicate this can improve ovulation and the quality of sperm/egg cells. Adding fruits and vegetables to your diet is also advised. A group of Harvard researchers found that 79% of infertile couples had a lower-than-average intake of foods high in antioxidants -- like fruits and vegetables.

You might also try Vitamin C supplements for your partner. In one study published in the "Annals of the New York Academy of Medicine", doctors found that after one week of daily doses of 1,000 milligrams of vitamin C, sperm counts rose by some 140%.

And, although there may be no studies to validate it, I'm a firm believer in the pillow under the hips for 30 minutes right after sex. Don't underestimate the assistance of gravity in getting the sperm cells safely into the cervical mucus and on their way as quickly as possible.

As far as Robitussin... that's one of those old wives-tale remedies. It's based more on coincidence than fact (again according to scientific study). However, it's just like the pillow under the hips - it can't hurt to try! And sometimes old wives know secrets that scientists may still be wondering about for decades. :-)

I hope I've helped some. I wish you fantastic luck!
