Irregular Cycles & Fertility: Seeking Advice on Conception
QuestionI have been married to my husband for 2 years and we have been ttc for over a year now and we are not having any luck...for the longest time before we got married and even after we got married I had a every 28 day cycle just like clock work..well for about the last 6 months or so I have been having a 31 day cycle ..I have been using an online ovulation test and we BD on the days that is says I'm suppose to ovulate but still nothing...here is my question
If a normal cycle is 28 days and i am having a 31 day cycle since I am not getting pregnant could I be ovulating around the time that i would if am having a 28 day cycle instead of 31 day in other words could I be ovulate earlier than what I think or do i just keep going by the 31 day cycle...any help or advice would be appreciated
thanks
Answerhi, If you have been trying to conceive for the past one year without success then you should consider a complete evaluation of both your self and your husband. This is because one year is taken as a limit to commence evaluation for infertility. Secondly as far as your cycles go, the time from ovulation to the onset of periods is 14 days always and there is no exception to it. So if you were having a 28 day cycle then you were ovulating on the 14th day and in a 31 day cycle it will be on the 17 day. But irrespective of this you must aim to have sex everyday starting from the 12 day right up to the 18th day to maximize chances of conception. But I would once again advice you to seek evaluation of both you and your husband because 85% of women conceive within one year of trying and since you have not conceived even after one year we may be missing some problem. So it is definitely worth evaluating for infertility.
