QuestionI stopped taking birth control pills Oct 1, 2006,(been on them for 15 yrs.) my last period started Sept 24-28. I had protected sex Oct. 15, and the condom broke, they next day I took the Plan B pill. I don't actually know the possible date of my next period since I am now off the pill. Before the pill I was already regulated for 22 days apart between periods, so what would be my date of ovulation and am I protected from pregnancy?
AnswerHi Stacia :)
According to your last period, you would have ovulated roughly the 12th of October. Now, this is simply going by the assumption that you have a regular cycle. Given that you took the Plan B pill, I think you are just fine. I think you were acutally just coming to the end of your ovulation period, so its likely that you didnt get pregnant, especially after taking the PBP.
I estimate that you should get your period by the 26th of October. So you could wait and see what happens. But dont be alarmed, if you dont get your period. It can take up to 8 weeks for your cycle to resume to normal, after coming off the pill.
Again, keep in mind the dates I gave you are estimated. When coming off the pill, its very common to spot, or miss a period ..its your hormones returning to normal.
I dont think you are pregnant, but if you do start to get symptoms, I would see your doctor.
Hope this is of some help, and thanks for writing.
