Delayed Period & Cramping After Pill - What to Expect
QuestionI am 26 and my husband is 28 and we have decided to start trying to have a baby. I stopped the pill at the beginning of September (the 1st day of my last period was September 11th). I saw a message from a woman titled "No period after stopping pill" and her situation exactly describes mine. I, too, have not gotten my period yet and have had numerous negative pregancy test results. Your answer to her question was helpful but you did not address the cramping issue. I have had cramps, similar to those that I get the night before and morning of the first day of my period, for over a week now and yet still no period. I was on the pill for about 7 years and had fairly normal periods before I started the pill. I always had cramps regardless of the pill. So any idea on what could be causing these cramps without getting my period? I just want to make sure that nothing is seriously wrong.
Thank you!
AnswerThe cramping is probably merely a prodrome to your period. YOu are now 9 days late for your period (if your last period started on September 11). If you do not get your period by the end of the month, ask your doctor to start your period for you using Provera 10mg twice a day for 5 days and you should get your period within ten days. Once you get your period, ovulation should occur two weeks later and you can start trying to conceive in earnest.
